I, too, feel no shame that I feel no sympathy here.
I happen to believe there are angels among us -- people who volunteer at nursing homes and such... people who touch other people's lives in a positive way.
But, if you're going to believe in angels and goodness, then you've got to believe in an occasional evil here and there. Evil in our midst can teach us, too.
Bob may not have qualified as "evil," but he was certainly a mean-spirited guy every time I saw him and in every single case I ever experienced second or third-hand.You could almost feel sorry for him for being such a miserable and disliked person, but only in a movie sort of way. In real life, he loved to belittle people and cheat them out of a nickel whenever he could. He took real glee in both those experiences.
Mattie D.'s nonsense notwithstanding, we all know that Bob was a jerk and a thief. Bites is right: If you want to be respected in death, then show a morsel of respect toward others while you're alive.
