It isn't accounting but it's a great SWAG. I added market cap to debt. If debt isn't considered and debt equals market cap, then value would be zero. Therefore, anyone who buys IP stock assumes that IP is worth about $20 billion. If IP were to be worth only the market cap, the debt holders would demand possession of your shares leaving you with an empty bag.
