I don't think it matters much if Amen is missed or not. Nor does it matter if his "toadies" are in the company or not. There are probably many hires made by prior managements that are far worst than any of the people Amen brought in. The fact is Amen is not alone in IFF's history of self-serving managers. Since the late 90's, successive management teams have dissipated all of the strategic advantages the company once had over its competitors. One thing for sure, coming out of crisis, IFF will need to transform its management culture and invest in its people in order to regain any semblance of its former glory. Van Ameringen and Henry Walter must be turning in their graves.
