IBM has stated that they are reluctant to increase the dividend because if they ever reduce the dividend rate then stock would take a big hit. I don't buy this argument and feel there is a much more sinister and executive greed at play here. What would shareholders select given the option of stock buyback or $5 one time spacial dividend?
2 percent dividend rate is not enough return to justify the risk of owning IBM shares. Buybacks have been largely infective in building shareholder value for past 10 years. Do you select special dividend or more buyback? Sentiment : Hold Rating :
