Ever since the courts gave IMRA the go ahead to proceed with their patent infringement case against IPG, both companies have been “extremely quiet”.

Considering the lack of news, I would guess that IPG is working with IRMA on a ”license agreement for IMRA high power fiber technology “ (Similar to two other companies that licensed IRMA technology earlier this year).

Several years ago, before the courts suspended IRMA’s suit against IPG in order to reexamine their claims, IRMA was seeing over $10M plus damages. Now that they’ve paid a small fortune in court cost and have won the right to proceed in their suit against IPG, one has to assume that IRMA will be seeking a lot more.

Does anyone here have current status of IRMA’s suit against IPG?
I’ve noticed that the stock price has run up ever since the IRMA details were announced, does anyone here expect a significant pullback once a settlement is made?

For those who have never heard of IRMA, the IPG 10K has the following statement: “In November 2006, IMRA America, Inc. filed an action... IMRA America alleges willful infringement and seeks damages of at least $10 million... IMRA America also alleges inducement of infringement and contributory infringement... This lawsuit concerns products made, used, sold or offered for sale in or imported into the United States and therefore the lawsuit affects products that account for a substantial portion of our revenues... In June 2008, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (“USPTO”) ordered re-examination of the patent claims... The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan had previously stayed the litigation until the conclusion of the re-examination.”
