After several years of being on sabbatical, I am back. Two things on the cooking stuff. First, dead inventory. There is millions and millions of dollars of dead inventory sitting around. They even created a mega warehouse to house this stuff. They show this dead inventory, which no one will buy, as real live inventory on their books. Over inflates the assets. It is junk and the situation is so bad that they feel the cost of writing it down far out ways the wasted money of housing this stuff in some out of the way warehouse. If they wrote if off, their financial position would be much worse than it is today and their current financial picture is not real good. Second they inflate their cash position by constantly being in arrears with vendors. They pay vendors really, really slow and carry hefty balances over into the following quarter to make their cash position look better. With all of this treachery and lack of candidness going on, they should rename their conference call the liar, liar pants on fire earnings release. Truth and honesty are indeed lacking when this group tells a story. Some would even say it is a figment of someone’s vivid imagination. What it’s not is a real clear picture of the sate of disrepair that this company finds itself. Time is not on their side.
