They are pretty good in the right applications. I use them in places where the lights are used alot. They don't last near as long as advertised and are useless outdoors in cold climates and look like hell in decorative fixtures. As far as disposal is concerned, that pack of GE's only says to "dispose of properly", what ever that means, so I toss the duds in the trash.

Oh, one horribly wastful and eco system destroying thing I do is drive a Trail Blazer. I have promised myself I will get a Geo Metro as soon as Al Gore gets rid of his private jet and gets his electric bill down to what mine is.
