Why are liberal Republicans called moderates?

For the first time since Reagan, the leadership of the Republican party understands they can't win without the support of conservatives. That doesn't mean liberal voices can't be heard but it does mean Republicans can't win without conservative support.

The race in the NY 23rd provides a classic example of what happens when liberal Republicans attempt to exclude conservatives. The same can be said about the attempt by extreme liberals forcing Joe Lieberman to run as an independent.

Liberal Republicans need to learn that even though they don't like conservatives, they can't win without them.
