You are right to be suspicious about Fingerhood IMO. Experience tells me that there might be a move sometime ahead among the powers that be to take this company private using some kind of debt covenant or other emergency to set the table. That is what happened to a company I owned recently where he had a large stock position and similar function on the BOD. I doubt he would be here at all unless there was some angle to get control. I own a few shares in this and hope it does not happen again, but the experience has made me wiser.
