I saw yesterday that Siemens hearing has said they are open to selling the hearing division and it has been valued at $3.7 billion. I confirmed this with some of the employees that the rumor is circulating.

I predicted 2 years ago that this is what they were doing when they brought in outsiders (to the hearing industry) to run the US division.

Question is who can buy this? Phonak has got to be upset they blocked their acquisition of Resound in Germany. The best bet for this division is if it can get out of a medical company and then they can compete better with the other manufacturers and don't have to follow the strict handcuffs that Siemens medical puts on them.

The answer to that question will strongly determine how this effects HearUsa. It could actually be good since Siemens basically now controls the destiny of this company.
