Reason I ask is poorly trained people and non existent customer service.
Bought a dishwasher last Wednesday night. Worked with the salesman about a half an hour before we made our selection and paid cash. Everything went great. Salesman explained features, advantages and benefits. We got prices on a few models (ALL with handles in front to match our other appliances and controls on TOP of the door vs. on the front of the door.) The floor model was a stainless steel and we needed white. We pointed to the one we wanted and our salesman wrote it up. Paid and left with a Friday delivery and install set. Friday comes and two nice young men bring our dishwasher. They take it out of the box and I start to inspect the white dishwasher we ordered. Color was right, controls on front and not on top of door and no handle (just a pull). o/k, no problem, somehow the delivery people picked the wrong dishwasher so I called our salesperson. I was quite surprised when our salesman did not offer on apology, but tried to blame me by saying "That's what's on the ticket". Stunned by his response I informed him that "Well, maybe you wrote up the wrong one, the cashier rang up the wrong one, I paid for the wrong one, the warehouse picked the wrong one, delivery delivered the wrong one...I know there is a problem, I called you for solutions". He said he knew the one I wanted (with handle and top controls) and he informed me he would get with his manager and call me back with a solution. About 5-10 minutes later he called me back and said "they don't make the one you want in white". I asked him how that got "on my ticket if they don't even make it"? Long silence. Whoops. He told me to come in and he and his manager Chris Ballenger "would make it right". Well, "make it right" to hhgregg meant LESS of a dishwasher (the one I was sold had a stainless steel tub inside and the one Chris offered had a plastic tub) for MORE money! WOW! Such a deal! He told me that was "cost". I declined his offer for less product for more money and drove straight to Lowe's and bought the same one Chris offered me at "cost" for LESS MONEY than Chris offered with no negotiation. Anyone believe Lowe's sold me a dishwasher and lost money? If so I have a bridge .....well, you get the picture. I called corporate while driving to Lowe's and explained what had just transpired. The nice woman said she was sorry I had a problem (Delivery person said the same thing but was NEVER told that by the salesman OR the manager) said she would look into the matter and then she took my phone number and said she, or someone else would call me back within 48 hours. Well, 72 hours later and Lowe's just installed my new dishwasher (I was out of town at a wedding all weekend) but NO call from the fine people at hhgregg. This economy is tough enough, but if hhgregg thinks they are going to survive using bait and switch tactics and then poor customer service the will soon be going the way of Circuit City. Pretty store though. And pretty expensive I bet. Rating :
