The worst job I've ever had      8-Sep-09 02:15 pm
I recently left one of the HH Gregg stores. Initially when we opened everything seems pretty normal. Then as time went on it seemed to get worse and worse. As a commissioned sales person you expect some bumps in the road. But what these genius' did was to change the commission structure so that the main portion was based on gross profit. Knowing the economy was going down the tubes, they knew exactly what they were doing. Then they started insisting that we take every deal even if we didn't make any money on it. The company also uses a floating cost structure by which they can add their 20 or 25% to the real cost and call it landed cost. At the store level then what they do is to consistently change the landed cost so you never know exactly how much money you might make. It kind of reminds me of the thimble game played in the carnivals where they keep moving the thimbles and make you guess where it went.

They may be opening lot of stores but they first need to learn how to treat their employees
