Glimcher & Blackstone      4-Nov-09 01:02 pm
First off I want readers to know I am a shareholder in GRT and therefore may come across bias, however I would like to offer my thoughts that may act to settle the emotions of other investors of GRT.

I am sure there was a confidentiality agreement between GRT and Blackstone that would delay any press release of the deal from either party until both parties were reasonably sure the transaction would close. I am also sure that to satisfy Blackstone's investor communication, GRT agreed to release the details of the proposed transaction for press release, so long as neither Blackstone of GRT were tied to it.

GRT got burned at the end of Sept when they issued a press release about a sale before the buyer waived contingencies or put down hard money. The buyer eventually backed out and made GRT appear to be counting their chickens too early. Investors reacted and GRT learned a lesson.

If anyone listened to the Q3 conference call you would have heard how sensitive GRT and CEO Michael Glimcher was on this nixed deal and how it affected investors. It is highly unlikely he would prematurely announce a deal until it is has passed the due diligence of the contract and the deal is solid. This could take 1 week to 45 days.

It appears likely that this deal will go through; Blackstone already owns a large minority interest and are familiar with the properties. However if GRT issues a press release prior to the deal becoming eminent and the transaction did break-down, GRT's stock wouldn't not get treated so kind like before. GRT is acting conservative until they feel MORE THAN reasonably sure they have a deal that will close.

We cannot expect authentic news on this deal until there is money on the table or contingencies have been waived by Blackstone. If and when this happens, I would expect lots of sustained movement in the stock price.

What are some other shareholder thoughts? and potential shareholder?
