"Probably neither, because I predict that within the next decade we will see smart cars that drive themselves.

......only if Garmin program attorney's cars to drive them off a cliff or into a lake.

Of course, IF we could find Greenies who would listen to reason we could convince them that rush hour without traffic jams - cars that yield to another vehicle that needs to make an exit would reduce pollution and increase mileage it would occur much faster. Imagine, a fleet of Priuses that were choreographed to make sure that people got home in the quickest and most efficient manner. But, the lawyers will stop it. Once they find out, they will be salivating at the prospect of the class action suits.

Let's see, Garmin has recently intoduced a PND that communicates with a land based system and provides it's location. A prototype system has been seen that communicates with the car's diagnostic system - another system has been demonstrated that will be marketed to OEM's for in dash navigation - I'd bet that there are a couple of cars running around Olathe that can negotiate streets - and probably traffic without human interaction.

By the way - in my first job out of college, I sat next to the engineer who was responsible to make the Motorola "brick" producable. The story is that every one of the early ones were individually tuned by a bunch of PHD's that declared it ready for production because they could make it work.

At that time, Motorola was run by a bunch of marketing guys with a raft of engineers to help them - it appears to me that Garmin is run by a bunch of engineers who could use some marketing help. I suspect that is easier to obtain than the technical talent.
