Garmin's problem is 90% a marketing one. The negative media blitz was largely artificial since there are good reasons to prefer the nuvifone even given all the additional features that the popular brands have. I say artificial because the bias was obvious since there are practical reasons for purchasing a nuvifone. The monthly cost of the much hyped products puts them out of the practical range of many people and I believe many people if they were informed would find the nuvifone a practical alternative. It offers quality navigation that is portable and cell phone features at a low cost (given that amazon offers the nuvifone for $99. An article in my morning paper, not mentioning the nuvifone listed the cost of the Droit $199 with rebate plus basic service $29/mo plus $70/mo family plan and support for Exchange e-mail cost another $15/mo. All that is more than these products are worth to me and I think they will have to come down if the public isn't going to find them that way as well. Garmin needs to get the cost comparisons for what you get into their message because the media just isn't doing it. And by the way Garmin's maps are free also. The bashers here like to confuse us with the google free map issue. WW
