Ask a person who has really made it in Information Technology how much attention actually they pay to Gartner these days. Now, lower your focus a bit to someone within Garter's IT department itself. Ask them (or yourself, if you happen to be in this position) how much voluntary use of this "treasure" is made internally.

In the 90s, having any information, opinion or direction at all in the field was a marketable position. Ironically, even remarkably obvious heuristics like the Hype Cycle could be packaged and sold. Things have changed. If you are considering the purchase of Gartner services, you probably don't belong in the Information Technology field.

Once gone, never back. When a customer leaves Gartner, they don't miss the value add. There is none.
