There are a lot useless posts on this message board that either have nothing to do with the company or are by people who know nothing about the company.

I worked at the Bank before they went public and for a little while after they went public and feel very comfortable with the management in place. I am still friends with people who still work there. Many of the key people have been with the company 20 years or more and work very well together.

Tom Vann, the President, was at one time, the youngest head of a financial institution in the country. He has seen the company through high inflation and low inflation, recessions and wars, the crash of '87, and 9/11.

Most of the branches are in small towns where relationships mean a lot. Tom does a good job of hiring well respected, productive professionals who grew up in Eastern NC and have very deep roots in their communities.

I don't know how he does things today, but when I worked there, he sold most of the mortgages without recourse (he did keep service rights which provide a nice tidy revenue stream). Based on the posting earlier this month, the Bank also didn't own any shares of Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. The Board of Directors would review EVERY delinquent loan.

What I am saying is that from everything I know about this company from current friends and previous experience, is that FSBK is run by smart, down to earth, conservative people who each have a personal interest in the success in the Bank.

I have been out of the market for a while, but recently got back in with a few hundred shares and will add to my position over time for the reasons mentioned above.
