My true hope as I suspect everyones' is, is that the current FFKT banking organization remains in tact, or at least is able to continue operations without being either being taken over by the government or bought out privately by a hostile bidder. I understand that the FFKT holding company has made a lot of acquisitions over the past several years of neighboring county banks, and perhaps has not assessed the risk of many real estate and commercial loans carefully enough (hence need for more prudent risk management), but what they must do, is do everything they can to correct their financial management inconsistencies and irregularities with full disclosure and responsibility, so as to be in the strongest position to be able to provide banking services to Frankfort residents and enable all here in Frankfort and Franklin County to weather the storm of the downturn and create an atmosphere for the capital city to be a place for state government to be looked up to as a place where all Kentuckians can expect to be served by public and private institutions and agencies across the commonwealth, both in these very recent harsh times of natural disaster as well as in the long-run economically stressful times few are fully capable of independently dealing with, yet with reliable financial infrastructure provided by such places as FFKT, we can all start to see the small businessman return to the forefront of economic prosperity and not be continually made dependent on big government, Walmart, or foreign corporations to be the great financial and economic powers calling the shots both in Frankfort and in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, both today and in the years to come.
