Probably related to FDEF's addition to the Russell 3000 and the requisite buying from index funds. Some people go short following big moves from Russell Index additions, so it won't be a surprise to see FDEF's SI rise on this tradable spike up and pull back. As a long-term investor, I don't bother with the "static."
