With more and more serious talk about nationalization of America's banks, I'm wondering how healthy banks like First Citizens would be affected. Would they be taken over too? I can see banks officially labeled as "troubled" (e.g., Cooperative Bankshares in Wilmington("COOP") taken over @ zero for the shareholders but is there a chance that First Citizens could be taken over by the government with shareholders getting nothing? What about other smaller North Carolina banks that never made any subprime loans? Many, still profitable, are selling for a fraction of book value. How in the world can one place a vaue on these stocks?

The silence from Washington is deafening.
