i read the press release that the company was successful in raising funds through "option to purchase additional at .75 cents". ..but, the stock was priced at .75 and my broker would charge me an additional 18$ to complete the transaction instead of me just buying shares.

hell, i could have skipped the "option" offering and bought in at 60 cents just a day ago.

well, i hope it was good for the company but i didn't understand the benefit for the shareholder.
