You don't need any advanced economics degree to figure this out.

The corruption of the US political system is now so deep that it's not even called corruption -- it's just called campaign finance. The Congress represents the people and entities for which it works, and that's clearly no longer the American citizen. If it's good for the top 0.1% of America, it's good for Congress.

The only person on the national stage who has been honest with the country in the last 30 years is Ralph Nader, and we basically shot the messenger.

The fault doesn't even belong to Congress. We live in a country where tens of millions of people scream "socialism" (or "fascism") when a President tries to get people health insurance. That's our electorate. The problems are so deep I don't see how America is ever going to cure itself, short of finally letting the Confederacy go.
