The economies of scale are different between pcs and consoles. A successful game on a pc is considered 100,000 copies. At about $60 each, that would gross you about $6 million which wouldn't pay for the cost to make the game. On a console, a good game would sell at least a million on a platform which would gross you $60 million at the same sale price. That is why the pc market tends to be ignored these days. The advantage is that it reopens the platform to independant developers again who don't need much revenue to generate profits.
