I've not seen any postings in awhile concerning the potential major issues with the Vantage 8.x releases. Vantage is sometimes referred to as a cash cow for Epicor. Apparently many sites are experiencing severe performance and/or basic functionality issues. Especially sites converting from earlier versions. Frustration levels in the Vantage community are extremely high. Communication between support and development is nil. Common situation...support says development has a patch in the works...development says "it was not an intended feature, it will be in a future version." Sites with large databases are finding conversions do not work and data is corrupted. A large regional user group is circulating a very angry letter to George Klaus asking that these issues be addressed.

Shareholders may be happy to learn that upgrading to Vantage 8.x is so difficult and the documentation so poor the only solution offered by support is to hire their high buck consulting services. Revenue enhancement plan? Then again maybe not because long time customers are dropping expensive support agreements and "freezing" in place at version 6.1...willing to re-buy Vantage 8.x in a few years if it is fixed or consider another system. So perhaps the maximizing of consulting revenue is killing the cash cow.

I am a huge fan of the Vantage product and would dearly love the features in 8.x...if they worked and if Epicor would provide a smooth upgrade process that should be included in they maintenance services we pay for. Perhaps it will take a little fear or action (or punishment) by the investors and markets to prod Epicor into investing in the current customer base.

The Vantage issue is one that should be of great concern anyone interested in EPIC. Is it not discussed more here because people are not aware of it?

Disclosure...I sold EPIC a couple years ago at 16 and am more and more glad I did. The Vantage issue is a powder keg with a lit fuse.
