Casey's Energy Report in its Oct. 20, 2009, issue, says says buy or do not buy Denison Mines Corp., then $1.89, officially, "Casey free ride -- Hold -- Buy under C$1.00." Casey Energy's predecessor, the Energy Speculator, and sister publication, International Speculator, together said buy Denison merger partner International Uranium Corp. (IUC) five times between Oct. 15, 1997, and Oct. 2, 2006, at prices ranging from 40 cents to $6. They said buy Denison three times between April 17, 2007, and July 8, 2008, at prices ranging from $7.94 to $14.68. An investment of $1,000 for each of the eight buys is worth a just-in-the-money $8,159. (On Dec. 1, 2006, the old Denison, which Casey had not recommended, was absorbed by IUC in a deal that saw each Denison share exchanged for 2.88 IUC shares. Denison became a subsidiary of IUC, which changed its name to Denison Mines Corp.) Lukewarm buys such as this month's are difficult for investors to follow because of the gap between the trading price and the buy price, so we have a weak buy that to many will mean do not buy here. The writer figures the second quarter of 2009 was a quarter to forget: operating costs topped revenue and delays continue at the Midwest project, Athabasca.
