Just passing by, former DBD shareholder who bought shares when I heard DBD was getting into the voter machine business; only held for a short (profitable) term. Saw the news that DBD is exiting this business.

I love ATMS and haven't used a teller in recent memory. I can see why BAC loves the new DBD ATMs, but as a consumer, I'm not a fan.
I figure the new ATMs are more efficient from a bank's perspective, since the customer now does the scanning of checks instead of a bank employee/internal machine after they have been taken out of the deposit envelop. "Problem" is that the scanning process takes alot more time especially if one is depositing multiple checks compared to using one deposit envelop. Yesterday I deposited three checks (after waiting for the person before me to deposit several checks). I somewhat felt guilty as I left the area, as a few people had been in line waiting for me to finish my deposit; in fact I exclaimed "these new ATMs are so slow!"...a guy in line shook his head in agreement.

And what is with the endless obnoxious tones the ATM constantly emits???

It is nice that I can get a scanned image of the checks I deposit, but I'd pass on that benefit for quicker deposit time similar to when I could use the envelop.

Coins...never will happen. Coins weigh ALOT!
