exactly, he is from city, the farmers are taking it out of crp because cash rent is higher than crp by a large margin, here in missouri cash rent for farm ground exceeds crp by a 40% margin. Where CRP in the 80s put a bottom on ground prices it is now putting a lid on ground prices. The switch over to ethanol gases has helped crop prices and increased production, what ground could be taken away from cattle had already gone into crops. As long as fertilizer, diesel, and pesticides dont eat up the profit along w machinery costs the next few years should improve for the farmer. cross your fingers.
