i was at the cowen roadshow presentation this morning and things look good. i met Eamonn, Krishna & David McDonald. I actually sat between Hobbs & Krishna. It was an informal presentation over breakfast (12 people total) that highlighted a number of items we already know, but there were a few things i did not know or had never considered.

There was a question about the use of melphalan as the chemo drug. Dr K explained why melphalan was the right drug and it was reiterated that if they had to do it all over again, they would definitely still choose melphalan. it is very effective. Also, most people who have liver mets die from them. if the liver can be treated, then cancers on other sites in the body can be treated or resected, but without the liver being under control, that would do no good.

They plan a head to head with nexavar, but that will be done in conjunction with a strategic partner (presumably funded by the partner). Nexavar extends life by about 12 weeks at a cost of $60,000 per pill.

They reviewed the economics of DCTH and discussed the possibility of off label usage.

With respect to the "bridge" that has been discussed here, that means that anyone who was in process could continue even though it is fully enrolled, though no new subjects will be admitted to the trial.

The centers were discussed and there are at least 5 that are ready to start once the FDA approves. In discussing Morristown, which is a different type of hospital, i mentioned Art Hart. Hobbs got excited and said he has had a full response and is disease free. He referred to him as the "poster child" for the procedure. I was thrilled to hear him so excited and that Art is doing so well.

The phase II neuro endocrine trial is showing an 80% response rate.

The patents may expire in 2016, though Hobbs said that patent counsel believes they will get another 5 years, so out till 2021.

They are looking at strategic partners, primarily in the far east now - China and Korea before Japan. He said Japan wont come on board until FDA approval. Hobbs has been very active in the strategic partner arena since joining DCTH and sounded very optimistic. A strategic partner would mean a sizable check for dcth and an exclusive distribution/take or pay contract for the partner.

Chinese govt says formally that 1:10 will get liver cancer at some time in their life. Informally, it is suspected to be 1:4. The market there is HUGE.

Phase 3 results will be released concurrent with the FDA submission.

Hobbs has great contacts, and both he and Krishna are well connected with Sloane.

The size of the secondary is to make sure we dont have to go back to the market a second (or third) time. It will definitely get us the institutional following we are seeking, and so far the institutional response has been extremely favorable.

Hobbs expects that the 4 firms doing the underwriting will pick up coverage after the quiet period, and at least 3 others who did not get the underwriting will likely pick up coverage as well.

He also discussed the filters, which are extremely complex. It is not a simple process to filter a specific chemical from the blood and involves a chemical reaction. Though there is patent protection, Hobbs is very confident that no one could replicate the filters.

There is no one out there doing what we do. We are unique.

I am nore convinced than ever that the team we have in place is the right one to take us the rest of the way. Krishna is brilliant; Hobbs knows the ropes and the right people - he is a man of action. In his words, this should be a billion dollar company.

Be patient - the secondary will come and more pieces of the puzzle will start to fall into place.
