Yeah that was not as bad as I thought...given the funds' performance that AUM must reflect decent retention. I bought shares in BANCX the other day....so now I'm part of the family.

Talk about a good company, but a bad stock...my God it has no bottom.

At least DHIL offered a special dividend to shareholders instead of a share buyback. So much damage has been done by management "returning value to shareholders" in the form of terribly timed buybacks. Freeport (FCX) bought $500 million worth of stock at $79/share and its now trading at $27/share. But now they won't buy stock...hmm, makes one scratch their chin.

And now countless companies are suspending their buybacks when the prices are low...because they are scared..I guess. "Returning value to shareholders" has done more damage than good. It's really a cycle that will always repeat itself...when cash reserves are high, times are good, share prices are high...so they almost always buy at the exact wrong time....especially in these absurd Fed induced bubble then bust world we're in.

Good for DHIL with the special dividend before the tax code changes...they were smart enough not to buy their own stock up over $90 earlier this year.

I wonder if DHIL would hire a guy who made a bunch of money shorting their stock?
