Dragonwave wins broadband deal with Sprint

Dragonwave has secured a contract to provide Sprint with broadband wireless gear that operates according to the technical standard known as Wimax.

OTTAWA — Dragonwave has secured a contract to provide Sprint with broadband wireless gear that operates according to the technical standard known as Wimax.

Although Dragonwave did not provide a dollar figure for the deal, the win helps to solidfy the Kanata firm's momentum in a key market niche. Sprint and many other carriers are building fourth-generation wireless networks capable of handling prodigiuos amounts of Internet Protocol traffic.

The company is expected to offer more detail following the release of its first quarter results Thursday.
