I went through fidelity's research information for csr and found some good info. from Thomson Rueters Resarch. This research group has a starmine accuracy of 96%. On 10/30/09 they upgraded the stock to a buy. Zacks has only an 80% accuracy rating and they have a sell rating on the stock, as has been previously mentioned on this board.As of Nov. 6, Rueter's first call covered 4,443 companies with only 17% being rated a buy. the remaining are either hold or sell. Return on equity for csr is nearly 2x the sector average. As of a year ago, Tu owns/controls the most shares with a figure of 16.8m shares. The largest institutional holding is Templeton with 1.66m shares. EPS estimates for Q4 '09 has a high of .63, mean of .56, and low of .49. The report does not indicate whether these are gaap or non-gaap numbers. With a float of 44.78 m. shares, I don't see the recent vol. and narrow trading range as selling by institutions to naive retail investors. Rather, I see it as just the opposite. I think the retailers are capitulating and institutions are accumulating. Earlier this week, msn reported that heavy accumulation by institutions was taking place on one of the high vol. days. The biggest challenge, I believe, is something as simple -and frustrating- as getting research groups to reconcile their eps estimates from non-gaap to gaap. Then we will be comparing apples to apples.As it stands now,if you add eps for this year: q1(.04)+ q2(.14 + q3(.46)= .64 for the first 3 qtrs.If csr gives full year guidance of .95-.98, that would imply q4 eps of .35-.38. If analysts are calling for .20 above that number, csr will get crushed on next earnings. Again, we're mixing gaap and non-gaap over the course of 2009. Anybody with the savvy to reconcile these numbers?
