The minting of money in the United States has taken on epic proportions. While Swiss banks have suffered with subprime holdings like there American counterparts I believe the following factors will make Swiss Francs and Switzerland more attractive to investors over the long run.

1) The Swiss Government is not faced with mountains of debt like the United States. Everything we do in America to correct the current problem is based on debt. That is not the case in Switzerland.

2) A stable housing market in Switzerland. We have no corollary in the United States. It is unlikely that we will in the next 3 to 5 years either.

3) The United States is entirely financed by foreigners buying Government Treasuries. With a contracted economy, foreign nations will not be able to buy all that the US government prints. This has not occurred any time in the history of the United States.

4) Socialized medicine. The US under Obama will move toward the European model for health care. Unfortunately in our case the United States has no way to implement this without incurring huge debts that will hurt our economy. Switzerland implemented socialized medicine eons ago, and has no government debt associated with it.
