S&P DOWNGRADES OPINION ON SHARES OF CVS CAREMARK CORP TO BUY FROM STRONG BUY

(Standard & Poor's)
CVS reports Q3 operating EPS of $0.65 vs. $0.60, $0.01 above our estimate. Due to a loss of more pharmacy benefit management (PBM) business than the company previously expected, and renegotiation of client contracts, CVS expects PBM profitability to decline 10%-12% in 2010. As a result, we are reducing our 2010 EPS estimate $0.33 to $2.67 and our 12-month target price $8 to $33, based on our comparative and P/E analysis. However, based on continued market share gains we see in retail pharmacy business and current valuation, we believe shares are undervalued.
