Socialism is OK for Goldman Sachs and Stank of America I guess; didn't see those oligarchs turning away the TARP $$ when they were going down over complex financial products that blew up. I don't care what a man makes but if he accepts a life preserver from the government and eats his bread he must sing his song.

When I look at unemployment numbers in the midwest we have to be rational and admit that we have a regional depression on our hands. Michigan is a good example. The unemployment rate is at 1930 levels. The only reason people are not lining up in masse at soup kitchens is because of the social safety net. Call it socialism if you care to; I guess it depends on wheter your stomach is empty or full??

Had McCain won you can bet that this decent and honorable man would not have let kids go hungry and families thrown out onto the street.

I favor true stimulus; i.e. we need to have the unemployed working. Building nuclear power plants, removing empty/abandoned buildings etc. would be a boom for Michigans economy. I worry about a moral hazard with our present welfare system both on Wall Street and on Main Street. I visited Detroit recently and was amazed that bowling alleys on weekday nights were packed along with a lot of value oriented restraunts. A lot of laid off guys call the government check and bride card "funemployment"!! No, these guys need to be put back to work. As to Wall Street, pay back the money and do as you wish as to bonus etc.

My tax dollars along with millions of others bailed out these banksters; what chutzpah!! Now, they are yammering about having to get buy on 200k a year and stock options!!

We can all be glad that Bush is gone.

I predict we will be mired in a deep recession/depression until banks return to their former role in the economy which was to provide financial services and lend money to qualified borrowers.
