Q2 and Q3 2007 was probably the most heady time for Cepheid. Stock price was soaring from $8 to $22 based on VA sales. I don't have some of the date I would like to have but I do know Q2 2007 saw 27 systems sold to VA. and another 51 systems, with 812 modules in Q3!

Not much word from the VA other than some reports recording a 70% or larger reduction in MRSA infections.

With such good results and with the ever expanding test menu, it seems plausable that many VA sites are utilizing the GX at near maximum rates. Or at least achieving maximum rates on enough occassions to warrant more capability.

It is possible that we could see another deluge of GX Infinity systems sold over the next couple of quarters.

Certainly it's inspiring to have the company report 6 Infinity sales in Q3 2009 CC and than follow that up with 3 more GX Infinity VA solicitations withing a few days after the Q3 numbers were announced.

When you think that the quarters in 2007 amounted to perhaps 1500 modules, and than to know that the 3 new VA solicitations, alone, amounted to 96 modules. That's kind of mind blowing.

So here's hoping to see another onslaught of GX infinity sales in the next couple of Q's. It could happen.

Maybe the activity we see is due to pent up demand and it may subside in a couple weeks.

If we do see the deluge, though, the stock might duplicate what it did in 2007.

Can you say "Back to $30/share?" It could happen.
