Unlike American Continents where great dividing mountains are clearly visible, in Eurasian Continents they are much more complicated and convoluted.

People there have been too busy to cover themselves, that they did not have much time to look beyond each others until very recently.

Chinese were not aware (or rather neglected) the presence of Taiwan until the Ming dynasty, when they discovered the island and found out the people of that island pretty much living like their ancient ancestors.

China can not even consider America as one of their prime enemies when they already have perceived many right in front of (or behind) them. They won’t venture outside three seas for a while and everyone else will be OK, just by being more aware of them inside those archipelagos.

During the Cold War, Afghanistan was one of three countries which shared her boarder with China and Soviet Union. There are still three now but Kazakhstan replaced Afghanistan which share borders with China and Russia. But regardless of sharing their borders or not, the close proximities and the dynamics of whole region should be regarded more pertinent.

Without Mongolia, the tension between Russia and China could be much tenser. Unfortunately, globalization, which empowers small groups or countries played similar havoc here too - although very limited so far.

However, unlike USA or EU, People there consider themselves as hapless victims, because the globalizations approached them from both west and east ends of the continent, which were originally conceived by free thinking and free trade advocating people of America (and some Europeans), wherein all these ‘evil’ began. And for them, an American concern of loosing their strategic insularity, which seems about 1/1,000th size of their problems, because of globalization, which they had nothing to do from the beginning, is illogical and sappy at their bests.

To fully understand the Vietnam War, one must include several more conflicts – those between Khmer and Hanoi & also between PLA and VPA – after the fall of South Vietnam.

They are recovering now. As the trade and affluence sips through the regions resulting in greater influence building up into the mainland China, which may eventually tip the current balance on the Russo-China borders, it is understandable why such a high degree of nervousness is building up there. What makes unique this time around is that fault line will not budge even an inch toward either side, thanks to their memberships of NNPT and UNSC.

And as the Swift tells us, the results are high energy beams bursting through the seams of that vault line occasionally with devastating effects of any unlucky ones who were nearby at that time. USA, probably not knowing their conducts fully, assisted Afghan guerillas long ago, found herself to become just another victim later. Sure it is not that simple, but it can be one of many reasons.

Misunderstanding the regions, the responses and remedies formulated by administrations since 9/11 were not effective and sometimes even detrimental to the national interest.

Fortunately, the solutions may be found easily if one becomes more inclusive and comprehensive. A little insight will help too.

Looks like Kashmir is too big to fail too. Seems like it is OK for her neighbors now. Perhaps less is really more there.

Only Opinions.
