AN INCREASE OF 29% FROM JUNE 30, 2009
CHICAGO, November 2, 2009 --- CNA Financial Corporation (NYSE: CNA) today announced
third quarter 2009 results, which included net operating income of $331 million, or $1.11 per
common share, and net income of $263 million, or $0.86 per common share. The combined
ratio for Property & Casualty Operations was 101.0% for the quarter. Book value per common
share was $35.38 at September 30, 2009, as compared to $27.53 at June 30, 2009 and $20.92
at December 31, 2008.
