Several weeks ago, Robinson Humphry SunTrust upgraded CCRN and AHS. Given my contacts with ER Dr.s, I think that upgrade is well placed. In recent weeks ERs have been slammed with "flu" patients-increasing volumes 50-100% year over year. Hospitals have had to increase nurse staffing by 20% FTEs (full-time equivalent) and Dr.s up 10% FTEs. Not only have ERs had to increase staffing but so have, ICUs and the "floor" in general. This "flu" pop was mostly in the South in Sept, but has increased across the country and intensity in Oct. As a consequence, there is no doubt in my mind 4th Q results will increase over 3rd Q. In addition, normally the "flu" season doesn't really get going till Jan. If current conditions persist, then 1st Q earnings will also be up meaningfully as well. The other kicker, beyond increased volume, will be "burnout" from full-time nurses. If they pushback on hospital managements and/or get sick themselves, then nurse/Dr staffing companies will be a great way to play H1N1.
