CBIZ Inc. reports $5.1 million profit in third quarter

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio -- CBIZ Inc., the Independence accounting and business services company, today reported a third-quarter profit of $5.1 million, or 8 cents a diluted share. For the same quarter in 2008, the company reported a profit of $4.4 million, or 7 cents a diluted share.



CBIZ (NYSE: CBZ) said revenue in the quarter that ended Sept. 30 was $179 million, a nearly 6.5 percent increase from the $168.2 million reported a year ago.



For the first nine months, CBIZ made $30.1 million, or 48 cents a diluted share, up 10 percent from a profit of $27.4 million, or 45 cents a diluted share, for the same time period in 2008.



Revenue was $588.3 million, up 8.8 percent from the $540.7 million reported in 2008.
