They will just never understand that they need people on the streets and in the small communities. A community bank cannot refer customers to an 800# to answer questions...too much local competition in each of the small communities. Centralization to Cambridge and hiring exec VPs to 'manage' their way out of the problems is not a strategy.

Great strategy to get rid of 20 bottom line employees and hire two guys at $150k to occupy offices in Cambridge and count the dwindling pile of cash. Its exactly what Baylor & Co. did in that regime...oh and try to turn the place into a commercial bank.

But...if you are just winding things down, why not let a couple buddies from Merrill cash in for a few months.
