You do read such strange things on these message boards some times! Recently, I read a post stating that CODI couldn't both maintain the distribution and purchase a new business.

Let's test that assertion using known facts.

At the last reported quarter, CODI had 58.2MM of cash on the balance sheet. Since the close of that quarter, CODI executed an offering that generated 49.1MM of NET proceeds. This offering boosted the share count to 36.625MM.

At the last reported quarter, cash available for distribution was 7.8MM. The most recent distribution paid was 34 cents...so total cash distributed to 36.625MM shares is about 12.5MM. If CAD stays flat the total distribution shortfall would be about 4.7MM.

Think about that for a moment. With cash on hand, CODI could maintain the distribution for (58.2+49.1)/4.7 = 22.8 quarters. ALMOST SIX YEARS! Beyond that, CODI have >180MM availability under their credit facility. They could make a 100MM portfolio acquisition financed by that if they so choose.

Based on the observable facts, the assertion that CODI can't pay the distribution and make an acquisition is quite absurd.
