Some common mistakes for longs:

1. Follow the insiders buying. Insiders can buy shares show their confidence and trick you to follow them. At the same time, they may also short more shares and buy put options, which they do not need to report.
2. Think shorts are stupid. Shorts are generally insiders that have more resources than individual investors. They would short and make childish comments or give you wrong reasons why they short on message board to make you think they are stupid so that you will hold or double down your shares if you lose money. In most cases, shorts would win as I have seen in many stocks.
3. Read message boards, study fundamentals and call Investor Relations. If longs read message board study fundamentals, they will always believe things that support their own views and laugh at views that against their positions and thus become even more stubborn in their mistakes. Investor relations will mislead you because it is their job to say only good things about the company. I have been reading messages and post comments and will say good-bye to all message boards for good after being involved in this IMOS board since I realize it is clearly a wrong thing to do in investment.
