Some time ago I wrote about free home phone service from Google Voice. While not exactly identical to a traditional phone it works.

Now comes a program for cells phone that have android operating system called Guava. This program allows a connection using a Google Voice account in conjunction with a Gizmo5 account to place calls. The calls can be placed whenever you are in a WiFi area that is open or you have an account with. The calls are to anywhere in the US and Canada and are free with no minutes used. They are as simple as clicking on your contact and hitting the call button. Wireless provider companies like CBB have got to hate this stuff.
