This is basically a new pretreatment to make the material more amenable to enzyme digestion ( as dilute acid does but as they point out, better).
But then you have to play with the enzymes which are substrate specific and can be inhibited by substances that BlueFire might run into at the dump.
Concentrated acid just breaks everything down and gets rid of it leaving sugars and lignin behind.
But if you like the enzyme path generally another interesting process is SunOpta's continuous batch steam explosion technology which pretty much does the same thing with steam. They have a patent on it.
