MADRID (MarketWatch) -- Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria /quotes/comstock/06x!cbbva (ES:BBVA 12.51, +0.33, +2.71%) reported third-quarter net profit of 1.38 billion euros ($2.06 billion) against 1.39 billion euros in the same period a year ago. For the first nine months of the year, BBVA reported a net profit of 4.18 billion euros against 4.5 billion euros in the year-ago period. Analysts polled by Reuters were forecasting 9-month net profit of 4.106 billion euros. The non-performing loan ratio rose 3.4%, while the coverage ratio stood at 68%.
