The total portfolio is not bad, and as you will see in the soon future, the loans that are bad, what it is about 3% of the portfolio?.. those will be foreclosed on, sold and the loans paid off, so alot of the bad debt that all these banks are charging off, they will see a huge windfall when the home/commercial bldgs.. are sold and the remaining balance of the loan is paid off. I do not hear anyone talking about that, but it is true, as a loan is charged off, the full write down of the outstanding balance is taken. Later the property is sold, the bank will get most of the outstanding balance back, so what all are saying is billions in writeoffs to all these banks is a bunch of BS and just a tax advantage. They will recover at least 70% of that amount, which all comes back to the bank and the bottom line when the property is sold... and realestate is picking up, sales of existing properties, especially foreclosed properties, is on the up side. So there will be a large influx of capital to all these banks as they sell off foreclosed/chargedoff properties.. Eventually CNBC.. Cramer and the news will start sharing that, but for now, they are hush hush about it for some reason. I guess they just want to wait a month or so, then come out with that news and spike the market back to new highs, but all these banks are charging off the full amount of the loans, and showing that as write offs, which they will be getting most of that money back when the property sells. And that is the bottom line.
