Roofing Material Prices never dropped here in NC.

I'd like to know where they dropped like a rock at.

The price of shingles are so high here, you can get a metal roof system for a few more dollars.

On one road alone I saw 14 new metal roofs in the last month, these aren't mansions either. We're talking 1,000 to 2,000 square feet $120,000 homes.

I told my Roofing rep that the shingle companies are shooting themselves in the foot by keeping the prices so high, more people are going to metal. Even though metal stocks have risen the price of metal roofing hasn't gone up here yet. But the Asphalt shingles never went down, not even a dime.

A roll of felt $30, 2 years ago it was $14.
5 gallons of fibered roofing cement is $35, 2 years ago it was $15 and if you looked you might could have got it for $10.

2 years ago oil was $75 to $80 a barrel.

This is nothing more than price gouging, I guess we know why Warren Buffet owns a roofing supplier and roofing company.

Just think after oil gets run up to $120 a barrel again, a typical roof on a house will be $7,500. Hope you got some money saved up for the big roof day.
