i worked for Pervel Industries (now since sold) in the early 60's...then a subsiderary of Bemis Yes, indeed, they do hire temporary college students, mostly relatives of Bemis employees. i was such a college student, hired not only for the summer but also for the semester Christmas break. Believe me, myself and others in the same category were extrememly grateful.
we worked cleaning ovens (called lehrs) in which we had to crawl into and literally scrape hydro-carbons from the interior of lehrs that were approximately 200 feet long. NO permenant employee opted to do this extremely distasteful job, though they had the opportunity to work through their vacation time.
Pervel had NO UNION at the time and their employees were compensated better than surrounding factories in the Eastern Connecticut area.

P.S. I also became a long-term Bemis purchaser of Bemis stock which is more than just "helping" with my retirement.During that time Bemis stock has split 5 TIMES...(do the math!)
P.P.S. All employees that i knew worked not only FOR the company, but more importantly, worked WITH the company...that particular year PERVEL INDUSTRIES was the most profitable company among the Bemis family of manufacturers...
WHY YOU MAY ASK? simple: their workers had values AND a WORK ETHIC.
