Midterm congressional elections are coming up with a unemployment rate that will still be very high at that time. Voters are angry at what is perceived as a bailout of the banks and wall street. The health care bill is being pitched with a cost basis reflecting savings from correcting medicare abuse. The regulatory agencies have had their medicare fraud enforcement staffs and their next year staffing budgets increased for this area.

My point is this - the Obama administration will be looking for any target to deflect the voters opinions. Amgen and arenesp will be very convenient targets. Don't put it past the Federal Government to apply pressure for a public settlement by delaying or putting approval roadblocks on pending drug applications. Arenesp on its own has its own sales problem even without all the publicity. If I were a doctor, I'd be looking at the sec/justice department activity in taking on the hedge funds and others. Any group with questionable dealings could be a target to deflect economic conditions.
