You would be first on the bandwagon if Nvidia moved from a 3 billion transistor count on a monolithic chip, to dual or quad core chips to lower the energy usage of their chips while still getting much better processing power.

That is the reason I have taken a negitive view on space heater GPUs that double Streaming Unified shader Units with little change other then they perhaps double performance.

It was ATI themselves that said they were going the multi chip approach but as we have seen with the 5800 series this turned out to be a PR stunt that was used the herald in ATI's abilities to use a single board instead of the two chips on two seperate boards as Nvidia is still doing with the 295.

One needs to look no further then the PSUs wattage rating of 800 watts to run a single 5800 or the new Fermi GPU, both will have a system load wattage need of 650 watts. In other words all the wattage improvements that other system components such as CPUs, DDR3 system memory, Hard drives and the rest all go to waste due to the fact that GPUs use nearly two and a half to three time the wattage of the other components combined.
